Frequently Asked Questions

Does insurance cover chiropractic care?
Most insurance plans cover chiropractic care to some degree.  Bring in your insurance card we'll contact your insurance company and let you know exactly what they cover.

What if I don't have any insurance...or my insurance doesn't cover chiropractic care?
Each year more people become uninsured and more insurance companies reduce their plan benefits.  Do not let this stop you from getting help for your condition.  Many of our patients have limited or no insurance coverage.  We work with our patients to ensure they get the care they need at a fee they can afford.  Our fees are reasonable and we're always willing to establish a fair payment plan.

Why should I go to a chiropractor?
The chiropractic profession has been around for over 100 years for a reason...chiropractic works!  Chiropractors do NOT rely on harmful drugs or surgery to temporarily cover up a problem, but rather on locating the underlying cause of the problem and making a permanent correction.  Chiropractic care has safely resolved countless health conditions by helping ensure the body's nervous system is functioning to its full potential...without harmful drugs or surgery.

Should I go to a chiropractor if I am suffering from a disease?
Absolutely! Many diseases or health conditions stem from an improperly functioning organ or body system.  Your nervous system controls every organ in your body, and since chiropractic care helps remove interference to the nervous system, it helps improve your body's self healing ability. Your body is always better able to fight whatever disease or condition you are suffering from when your nervous system is functioning properly.

Can I go to a chiropractor if I am under medical care?
Yes. An optimally functioning nervous system is important no matter what other type of care you are receiving. You can have your spinal column checked for nerve interference by a doctor of chiropractic and still visit a doctor of homeopathy, naturopathy, osteopathy or medicine.

Is it harmful to twist and pop your neck or back?
Yes. A desire to twist and pop your own neck or back is harmful because it generally indicates there is a fixation or jamming of the spinal joints (subluxation) causing pain and discomfort.  These problems can usually be corrected by a specific chiropractic adjustment. If you continue to twist and pop your own neck, the spinal joint fixations (subluxation) will continue to get worse and can create more severe problems in the future.

Can you tell if you need a chiropractic adjustment on your own?
Generally, no. A subluxation can be likened to a dental cavity: you may have one developing for a long time with no noticeable symptoms. That is why periodic spinal examinations by a chiropractor is often recommended. However, after a period of time under chiropractic care, some people become much more spine conscious and can actually be able to tell when they need an adjustment. The effects of spinal subluxations are often gradual and slowly eat away at your well being in tiny increments. For that reason, we recommend a chiropractic consultation and examination.

How long does a spinal adjustment take?
After the initial consultation and examination, a schedule of care will be established to correct the problem.  Once this has been completed, the spinal adjustments will only take a few minutes.

Can a person who had back surgery see a chiropractor?
Yes. Many people who have had various kinds of spinal surgery often discover a return to their same back problems months or years later. There are so many of these people around that the condition has a special name, "Failed Back Surgery Syndrome". Most people with this condition can usually be helped with chiropractic care, but like any other condition, this can only be determined after a after a thorough chiropractic examination.

Can chiropractic prevent back surgery?
In many cases the answer is a resounding "yes"!  Chiropractic adjustments correct many spinal problems that in time could require surgery.

How often do I need to be adjusted?
While you are in acute pain and discomfort you will be seen quite frequently to eliminate your pain and stabilize your spine. We will then evaluate your progress and reduce your schedule accordingly.
